WALKING IN PERTHSHIRE
Glen Lednock
Circle - Comrie
Distance 4 miles
Ascent 300-600ft
This is a fantastic little riverside circular walk starting in the delightful village of Comrie. Some of the pools and waterfalls on the River Lednock are spectacular.
Park in Comrie around where the B road branches off for Glen Lednock. Here at the edge of town is an old set of stone gate pillars and a signpost signalling the direction to take.
The path winds up the Glen adjacent to the river and has some great diversions on suspended walkways above the gorge to view the Wee Cauldron and the Deil's Cauldron.
Eventually the path joins the road. Continue walking along the road and you have the option of following a steep path up to Melville's Monument on the left. This diversion affords spectacular views from the top.
Back on the road, continue onwards for a quarter mile or so out of the forest. A farm track branches off to the right and down to a small footbridge. Cross this and head back down the other side of the river and back into the forest.
Following this signposted path will bring you all the way back down to Comrie where a walk a pleasant stroll through the village (with perhaps a refreshment break at the Royal) will return you to the starting point.
