Competition to Win Outdoors Show Tickets

If anyone is likely to find themselves near Birmingham in a couple of weeks, it might be worth entering this competition on Outdoors Magic to win Outdoors Show tickets for the Ordnance Survey Outdoors Show on 16th 17th 18th March 2007. Since we've got a new baby due right around then, I wont be entering which means more chances for everyone else!

Don't Look For A Met-Office Forecast If It's Going To Snow

Looks like people are suddenly very interested in the weather now that a couple of centimetres of snow have been forecast for the south of Britain.

The Met Office website was down today due to a high level of demand from visitors to the site.

Wow! A weather site getting lots of visitors because there is finally going to be some weather to speak of. You couldn't plan ( or perhaps forecast) for it!

Dehydrating Food

The OutdoorsMagic newsletter just alerted me to an interesting discussion about dehydrating and rehydrating food.
It's a fascinating subject for anyone who likes a bit less weight when out on trips but isn't prepared to put up with pot noodles or beanfeasts and would rather carry food they had created themselves from scratch.
The dehydrator that they mention in the forum looks like a wise investment for anyone who cares about these things for multi-day trips.
