Ratho Adventure Centre, Edinburgh
I've posted in the past about the fate of Ratho Adventure Centre and all its funding problems.
Bagger posted this item about Ratho Adventure Centre after a recent visit, and keeps us up to date with the progress to keep the place open. It really is an awesome climbing centre and deserves to shine. So on these cold, dark afternoons, rather than sitting adding extra pounds to your waistline when you finish work, why not dig out your old climbing slippers and head over to Ratho for a climb.
Comments:
Took your advice & went to Ratho. Only problem was the place is shut until November for maintenence. It would have saved me a lot of hassle if the website had made it clear. Ah well, you did go 9 months after I posted that blog item. If only I'd known the future. On their website at adventurescotland.com it states that: "The Adventure Centre Ratho is closing for major building works from 7 August 2006 and will re-open on 13 November 2006". Lets hope it's even better when it reopens (and that the roof's stopped leaking). For now, there's always Alien Rock at Granton - http://www.alienrock.co.uk/ well everyone what a surprise, why undertake work in the quiet summer when the busy winter period would do.And now just to annoy you even more it will be shut until 'MID'???? January 2007 Ratho was reopened to climbers this week (on 19th Feb 2007). Seems to be a two phase opening with the wall being open now and everything else at some future date.
