Turn a walking pole into an ice axe
This autumn, Grivel are releasing a neat little add on to stick on top of a walking pole to turn it into an ice axe. What it appears to do is replace the normal handle of your ice axe with the new one that includes a (fold out?) ice pick. Looks useful for self arrest or for daggering on steep ground. No adze though so not suitable for cutting steps. I still like to cut steps from time to time just to keep my eye in - it just feels so retro.
